Co-founders Ann Cabano and Angela Friis met on a movie set and became fast friends, bound by their love of Converse shoes.
It is that friendship, the love for the film community, and the common drive to give back that brought them to the idea of holding a film festival.
And not just any film festival, one full of heart and hard work to celebrate the Arizona film community AND at the same time celebrate the Arizona non-profit world.
10% of all profits from the festival go directly to the selected charity.
We are excited to offer this fun and funky fest!
Held in Tempe, Arizona we will be bringing the local talent to the big screen.
We will be screening SHORTS only for THIS event.

- We are celebrating YOU and YOUR talent, AND making a difference in the Arizona community! We have simplified the categories that will help less visible talent become more visible! Check it out!
- Your talent celebration moves one step further by honoring Arizona local non-profits. This years benefactor is a non-profit called Agnes' Centers for Domestic Solutions helping bring awareness and solutions to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. Back Meet The Charity
This year, IndieAZ Fest is proud to be supporting Agnes' Centers for Domestic Solutions. 10% of the proceeds from this year's fest will be donated to this amazing charity!
Agnes' Centers was founded by Grace Crockett and co-founded by Mercedes Booker. This mother and daughter team has a passion for helping others overcome domestic violence as they share their own testimony of overcoming. Agnes' Centers For Domestic Solutions was incorporated on December 4, 2012 and is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. The vision of the center is "Building overcomers one testimony at a time, while ending the cycle of domestic violence." Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their live even when faced with death." Our mission is to aid and assist individuals affected by domestic violence. The center has programs and services that focus on empowering victims and perpetrators that are ready to end the cycle of abuse in their lives. Our trained, educated, and professional staff addresses each individual's need as they progress through our programs. Agnes' Centers goal is to help individuals across the world transition from victim or perpetrator to an overcomer.

Meet & Greet: Mel Novak
Mel Novak, born Milan Mrdjenovich, has been one of the finest screen villains of his generation. Playing against a spectrum of Hollywood"s leading action heroes. But before all of that he was a professional baseball player for The Pittsburgh Pirates as well as a successful modeling career until fate stepped in and made him a film legend.
His action film appearances span over 40 years of multitude of genres and a who's who of action icons.
Starting with Jim Kelly in Black Belt Jones, Yul Brynner and Max von Sydow in The Ultimate Warrior, Steve McQueen in Tom Horn, Chuck Norris and Christopher Lee in An Eye for An Eye. Dan Aykroyd and Rosie O'Donnell in Exit to Eden But his iconic role was playing the assassin "stick" in The Game of Death opposite Bruce Lee.
Mr. Novak has been working steady and creating new iconic characters in the genre with leads in Samurai Cop 2, Syndicate Smasher, Check Point, Marilyn: The Zombie Hunter, Toxic Tuto.

Meet & Greet: Dave Pratt
Dave Pratt is the owner of Star Worldwide Networks, the fastest growing internet radio and TV Network in the nation. www.StarWorldwideNetworks.com The network produces and distributes shows from all over the world, plus the network creates audio and TV commercials for some of the biggest advertisers in the industry.

Dave has also enjoyed being the commercial voice for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona State Fair, Coca Cola and many others. Recently, The Morning Mayor was proud to host the Arizona Centennial Celebration with the Governor of Arizona and the Secretary of State. This season, Dave is also the voice of the Phoenix Suns radio commercials.
Dave is proud of his career with multiple awards including National Personality of the Year, but he is most proud of being a husband, father and a friend. Dave and Paula have been married for 27 years and are blessed with 4 children – David Jr. 22, Kyle 20, Sammy 17 and Madison 15…….and of course, their yellow lab, Rio! In fact, Rio is the CEO of the parent company, Doublewide Productions.
Meet & Greet: Michael Saquella-Paloma
IndieAZ Fest would like to welcome Michael Saquella -Paloma to our Celebrity Meet & Greet and one of the Award Presenters this year.
Michael Paloma is a singer in his band New York Blues as well as an Actor, Producer and Director.
Michael is currently producing and directing two films in production in AZ. Ambush at Peck Canyon the story behind who killed Border patrol agent Brian Terry and Deep Cover Shallow Graves a CIA cover up story based on the life of William Tosh Plumlee former CIA operative. Michael Directed, wrote and starred in the horror film Blue Lake Massager and his leading role in Forget About It with Burt Reynolds and Raquel Welch.
Michael Paloma and His New York Blues, including two music videos produced by Richard Grieco, and his very own live concerts. Under the spot light, Paloma puts on a spectacular show inspired by his stage credits which start with stand up comedy for opening acts such as The Beach Boys, Charo, Tony Bennett and Raquel Welch to impersonating John Belushi in a Blues Brothers act for Legends In Concert and Legendary With the releases of titles such as Used Cars, O'Hara's Wife, and Assassin to more recent films such as Lady Blues, News Traveler, and Desert Rose, Paloma has once again shown that he is a creative entertainer.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Playboy Centerfold? Have you ever been fascinated by what it is like to be part of the Playboy world? What could ever possess a woman to want to pose nude for the world to see? What are parties at the mansion like? What is it like to be romantically pursued by celebrities? How does posing and working for Playboy impact the rest of your life? Have you ever fantasized to be a Playboy Photographer? For many, it would seem to be a dream job. Is spending the day with beautiful women, who are nude, as great as it sounds? Finally, you can find out from directly from the Centerfolds, models, and photographer’s themselves.
Author, and Miss December 1982, Charlotte Kemp has spent the past twenty years gathering stories from her Centerfold friends and former colleagues and has presented them in Centerfolds. Eighteen Playmates, five photographers, and one celebrity model tell their own stories and in their own words, uncensored, for the first time.
Blessed with beauty, brains, and athletic ability, there is seemingly nothing that Charlotte Kemp can’t accomplish. While studying biology and psychology at Indiana University, she started modeling. A roommate in Chicago, who had already posed for Playboy, convinced Charlotte to pose for a test shooting. Playboy loved her test shots and wanted her to pose for the magazine. After careful consideration, Charlotte Kemp made the life altering decision and was selected as Miss December 1982. She was also was selected to grace the October 1983 cover of Playboy Magazine. Her exposure in Playboy brought her international fame and led to AnheuserBusch selecting Charlotte as the focus of a national marketing campaign for its Budweiser brand. She also continued to model and appeared in various magazines including Cosmopolitan and Vogue. She has also appeared in on television both as herself and in several commercials and has been featured in several films, including the cult classic Frankenhooker.
Gifted with athletic ability, she was a Iowa Junior Olympic swimmer in grade school and played a variety of sports. After a move to Los Angeles in the early 1990’s, she began running for its health benefits. This inspired her to found The Playboy Running Team, the only Playmate who has ever been granted a license to use Playboy's trademarks for commercial use, which raised countless dollars for a variety of charities. She continues to utilize her athletic abilities. Miss Kemp has completed more than 25 marathons and continues to participate in celebrity tennis events.
She has also been a successful businesswoman. Miss Kemp a production company that produced a fitness video for women over 40, an entity that facilitated corporate sponsorship for sporting events, a contracting company, and a decorative concrete company.
She turned to back to her writing many years ago, Centerfolds, a book twenty years in the making, is Charlotte Kemp’s second book. In 2012, she wrote and published a collection of poetry and short stories, For My Eyes Only under her given name, Charlotte Helmkamp.
In all that she has succeeded at, her proudest accomplishments are her children.

World Famous for his Alien Abduction in Snowflake, AZ and star of the iconic Hollywood film Fire In the Sky.
Mr Travis Walton, is an IndieAZ Fest supporter and will be part of our Celebrity meet and Greet.
We are honored to have him at our fest and and to see his support in the fight against bullying and domestic abuse.
Meet & Greet: Byron Cherry
Best Known for playing Coy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard.
Other shows include The Duke, Murder She Wrote among others and will be seen in the upcoming movie The Lighthouse in 2017. See his IMDb page for more credits.

Back Learn The Rules
- Must be NO longer than 20 minutes including credits, for most genres. Music videos can be no longer than 5 minutes, and Out of State entries can be no longer than 15 minutes.
- MUST be connected to the Arizona Film Community in some manner, unless entering the Out Of State category.
- All Arizona entries are required to show proof of Arizona connection in the communication on Film Freeway or will be disqualified, regardless of quality of film.
- Only one out of state entry will qualify to be screened at IndieAZ Fest.
- Only Arizona films qualify for awards and prizes.
- All experience levels may enter.
- No torture scenes, pornographic material. Must be Rated R or below.
- IndieAZ Fest reserves the right to disqualify ANY entry for ANY reason at ANY at the full discretion of the event organizers and judges.
- All entries must be submitted through FilmFreeway, NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Films accepted into IAZF must be able to deliver the full film file via a downloadable link or a zip drive within 3 days of notification or the film will become disqualified.

Jennifer is the mother to Arizona film community child actors and serves with Administration for the ACACN - Arizona Child Acting Casting Network specializing in talent notices for film, commercial and theater auditions along with head shot photographers and acting classes.
Jennifer has a passion for networking and supporting the Arizona film community and is in the process of opening her own Child Talent Agency.
In her personal life Jennifer works with an Escrow company and is a busy mom to 3 children.
William Long is an actor and producer most know for Durant's Never Closes, Duel at the Mound and Spectacles.
As a native Arizonan who is a relative new comer to the film industry, starting his career in acting in 2012, he fell in love with making films. William wants to support and help build a sustainable film industry that thrives right here in Arizona.
As an aesthetician and permanent make-up artist in Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada for over a decade, Lisa helped show girls and industry locals become beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside.
Lisa is an actress, model, singer and dancer in the Arizona film community. She has been part of several shorts, music videos, a Pabst Beer commercial and feature productions giving her not only acting, but producer credits.
Lisa has a B.A. in Psychology and has worked as a Real Estate agent for 13 years, and has served as a housing counselor.
Donna has been involved in the Arizona film community since 2009! She started her acting career in the Chicago theater community appearing in various productions such as:
Nuts, The King and I, Don't Dress for Dinner and From Broadway to DeKalb.
She has also appeared in Investigation Discovery's Love the Way You Lie, the feature film Camp 139, the web series Deadbeats along with other various shorts.
Melissa is a film, theater and commercial actress and model currently working in the Phoenix, LA & Vegas markets. With more than a dozen short films under her belt, several feature films in distribution and over 20 IMDb credits on popular networks such as CMT, Investigation Discovery and HBO, Melissa has an insatiable appetite for the craft.
Born and raised a Phoenix native, she is a summa cum laude graduate of ASU with a major in Interdisciplinary Arts with an emphasis on media and performance.
She continued her education at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications for broadcasting.
When not on a film set this Italian fireball is a host and online personality and full time position as an Entertainment & Social Media Producer for AZCentral.com while also serving for The Arizona Republic.
Melissa is the actors liaison for The Actors Showcase, Filmstock Social and the red carpet experience at Filmstock Film Festival in CO, UT, NM and AZ and volunteers in support of other local festivals.
Melissa teaches improvisation and scene study classes under her brand name 'Fun Sized Production' at the Artist's Box in Tempe and works as a private coach and consultant for actors and artists in the entertainment industry.
StevieAnne Petitt is a published author, public speaker and stand-up comedian with a brand of humor she touts as Conscious Comedy. Stevie has performed to a wide variety of audiences from in front of a classroom to the stage of The Improv, sharing her views that can be experienced in her book Ego's Are Like Farts.
Stevie is currently working on a project in production as the subject of the documentary film entitled Unfilthy; capturing life's journey from childhood abuse and promiscuity in group homes to innocence and laughter as a comedian.
Stevie can also be found weekly on the AZTV7 news segment, Morning Scramble, where she shares her tips as a branding strategist for local entrepreneurs, helping them bring their brand, voice and presence to a larger online audience.
She works as an online and on campus instructor at the Tempe holistic college The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, encouraging Entrepreneurs to share their passion and purpose with the world in a loving and profitable way.
Stevie knows what it takes to share a vision with others in a compelling and comparable way and has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a jovial and genuine judge for this year's incredible talent!
Ali brings with her 5 years of judging experience from the Sedona Film Festival.
Along with her passion for film, Ali is also a humanitarian recently recognized by International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS (IAPA) with the International Child's Life Award for demonstrating a commitment and taking specific measures to eliminate the impact of HIV/AIDS on children throughout the world.
Ali has also been honored with the Martin Luther King awared from the City of Tempe for her grief work with teens around the state.Although Ali lives with the debilitating and painful disease dystonia, she continues to help others overcome their own pain.
Ali has been a counselor for 25 years and certified Martha Beck Life Coach specializing in grief/loss, living with pain, self-worth, and recovery aftercare.

Elizabeth started her love for the industry in her early twenties in Okinawa Japan where she worked in radio, television, and print ads. After returning to the United States, she contributed to several documentaries.
In 2005 she attended Scottsdale Community Collage and was propelled into the valleys industry working on many projects as Production Assistant, Script Supervisor, 3rd, 2nd, & 1st AD. Script Supervisor, Location Scout, Craft Services, Line Producer, Office Production Manager, Unit Production Manager, Associate Producer & Producer.
She worked music videos for The Vissa Sisters, Portugal 2 Man, Loren Battle, Apple Seed Crew, Mafia Men. As well as many shorts, DVD Instructional services, Non Profit organizations & Info-Mericals, but of her experience comes from feature length projects.
Along with working in Phoenix and throughout the valley, Elizabeth has also worked in LA, Seattle, NY, Dallas, San Francisco, California, Washington, New Mexico, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Florida and her favorite location Vancouver, Canada.
Elizabeth is an avid supporter of the many valley industry events and has enjoyed volunteering for Phoenix Film Festival, Filmstock, Jerome Film Festival, The Meisner Program and for the second year in a row, The IndieAZ Fest!
She has worked on productions such as Vacuuming the Cat (Uncrossing the Stars) With Barbra Hersey & Ron Pealman, Running on Empty Thug Passion, The Crypt - The Between, Dakota Skye, Yesterdays Tomorrow, Bryan Loves You, Thug Passion, The Dead Fall, Grief, Brazilian Wood, and so much more!
